Usually, i let her out of cage or play with her 1 to 2 hours everyday.
but as usual my parrot will scream in the morning around 8:00am and 18:00 afternoon.
i have to cover the cage with a black cloth so as to prevent her scream and being complainted by neighbours.
However, i feel hot these days even at night time. will she get sick in this hot weather and situation (covered by cloth in hot weather).
please tell me more your experience. i'm a new to have parrot.
do u mean you cover her cage from 8am-6pm everyday?
if so, it's really too long. i don't think she will be happy.
even if this dosen't cause physical problems, it may make her mentally ill.
does she scream for a long time, or just for a short while?
perhaps you give more information, so that people here can give proper advice.
(e.g. species, age, gender, how long u've kept her, how long does the problem last, etc).
*tips: u will likely get more feedback if you can type in Chinese.
keep open the windows and keep good ventilation at your home, it dosn't make harm to your parrot even if u cover with cloth.
but dont cover it too long or it feels unhappy. u dont like living in dark environment all the time, right?
as my case, if my parrot scream, i will put the cage into dark room for a while and let him calm down. And let him go out after a few mins. then it know the rules: scream--> dark room --> calm down--> go out and play. i will even give him some treats after he goes out. Now, he knows my practice and only scream when he wants to sleep, then i will let him sleep at dark room and cover with cloth.
To answer your question, I don't think it will be to hot even you cover the cage with a cloth indoor in summer. As above mentioned, you cannot cover the cage all the time.
Totally agree ----- The rules: scream--> dark room --> calm down--> go out and play
Thank you very much for your opinion.
My umbrella cocktoo uaually scream around 18:00. Then, when she start to scream, i cover the cage with cloth till next day morning around 07:30 and let her out to play. do you think is it too long. but in these day i feel very hot at night. i worry she gets sick in such hot environment.
I keep her just 1 and half year. i also want to learn more and make my bird "is called HELLO" to feel better.

covering the cage for 13 hours sounds long. but books mention that parrots need 12 hours sleep. so i guess the point is how you interact with her during the day.
does she stay at home on her own?
if someone's at home, does that someone interact with her?
does she have enough toys?
how's the quality and length of time you spend with her?
the point is, she already have 13 hours in the dark alone, she needs some company during the day. but that doesn't mean playing all the time. that can be as simple as watching TV with u , sitting next to when u r surfing the net, etc.
wish your cockatoo a happy life.
*sorry to ask again, can u type Chinese? can u read Chinese?
in wild, birds sleep when sun set and wake up when sun rises. it's ok that u let the bird sleep at dark room at 7:30PM. but does anybody at home in daytime? if all people go out in day time, that means it will be alone all the day and it sleep early. in long run, it will be so lonely. but if someone at home to accompany with it in day time, it will be fine.
it is ok that cover the cage in the room with good ventilation!
