MAVIC 717 + DT SWISS SPOKE + A2Z hub = 2000+ trade in element hub +317
MAVIC717 + DT SWISS SPOKE + novetech hub = 1500 + trade in element +317
Which on is better?

i would opt for MAVIC 717 + DT SWISS SPOKE + A2Z hub.
if money is not an object, for look a wheelset with better hub!
actually a2z is still reliable but resale value would be um.....

the point is with the current wheel set I have broken the spoke for a few times, 2 cross with taiwan spoke. I need to either upgrade the spoke to DT for and 3 cross setting for $700 or get another set of wheel.

if that is the case,buy a pair of factory wheelset or
build your new wheelsets at the other bike shops
cos same thing might be happening again due to the craftsmanship of that bike shop.
this is actually the mechanic's problem!

no I think it is not the craftsmanship problem, becuase my road bike wheelset was built by the same guy.

I think 2 cross may not good enough for dirt road, 3 cross should be better

but MAVIC 717 + DT SWISS SPOKE + A2Z hub should be a little bit more than 3k right?
with that amount your can look for a pair of dt factory built wheetset or red metal 3 or 5!
but a wheelset built with a2z hubs can shred a lot of weight!

I think I should bulit the wheel, 3 cross is more or less a dirt bike setting.
beside the 717 what other rim should I consider?

rim types---40
a pair of sub 1600 wheelset can be built if revolution spokes will be chosen!

qr not included!
if building a lightweight wheelset is your goal, than a2z is your first choice!
forgot to mention, metal 3 and 5 would be somewhere up to 2000 g +/-!

not really!..as told revolution spokes are not suitable for disc wheelsets as their strength might not be as good as competition spokes however the competition spokesare way heavy.
my xtr wheetset build with competition is more than 1800g!

Sorry! Forget about the post ten as i read the wrong thing.
The a2z wheelset would be lighter than your current wheelset . If i am not wrong yous should be slightly more than 1800.

keep on the training programe and cut down 10kg of your weight as you have alot more fat to burn.NO OFFENCE COZZY!!!!in fact,i have seen some photos of yours,u have slimmed down a little! by then,build an ultra light weight wheelset with a2z hubs+revolution spokes+stan's ZTR Olympic Disc rim.i have seen this wheelset on the digital scale showing 138X gram on the display.that would be A POUND lighter than your element wheelset.
also put a pair of exustar clipless pedals which is 250 gram on your bike,then you can bring down 1 1/2 pounds out of your bike!

when I am down to 100KG, I will be back on roadbike and not going to look back....
so I think I should save the $$ too

ic ic !...then i suggest u just fix snapped spokes on your wheelset and save more $$ for your ultimate machine cos sooner or later you will switch back to your rb!
