PBFD POSITIVE
1. 50% of all samples from wild Cape Parrots tested positive for PBFD;
2. 45% of all sample from captive Cape Parrots tested positive for PBFD;
3. Darkened cere, poor condition, dark patches of feathers, excessive feather dust, any feather loss, and low energy were the best indicators of PBFD;
4. No apparently healthy Cape Parrots were PBFD-positive;
5. No wild Cape Parrots with yellow feathers tested PBFD-positive, but all captive Cape Parrots with yellow feathers tested positive; and
6. Random feather samples were just as successful in detecting PBFD infection.
