Hyacinth is really not rare. Reason you dont see many in pet trade is because its just so darn expensive. Its one of those things we call 有價無市。 Seriously who wants one!!??? I'd rather buy a motocycle or a couple of other macaws. Also keep in mind that keeping a hyacinth will spend you even more than most other macaws because they require a diet extra high in fat, "even" higher than other macaw species diet. Also grooming and the very costly vet bills. Only descent avian vet should touch a hyacinth lets say. Having said that this giant blue bird is often seen in the united state.
